Lim Tze Peng Sharing about his calligraphy writing
Cape of Good Hope Art Gallery is presenting “Second Generation Ink Artists - Rhythmic Sentiments”, a special exhibition which showcases a collection of ink paintings by a group of famous local artists who were born between the 1920s and 1940s.
Some 60 artworks that belong the gallery, artists and art collectors would be on display. The purpose of the exhibition is to bring out the different understanding that the artists have of ink painting and the various creative approaches that have been adopted.
Artist Nai Swee Leng express the fine beauty of “birds and flowers” paintings inspired by the traditional Shanghai style of expression while his contemporaries such as Tan Oe Pang and the late Chua Ek Kay formulated new propositions to depict subjects of nature using ink painting techniques that they’ve learnt from the old masters.
Artists such as Lim Tze Peng, Ang Ah Tee and the late Foo Chee San were greatly inspired by their memories of old Singapore. Their ink paintings convey the beauty of long lost villages, bustling streets, busy Singapore River and old iconic shops in our country.
All art lovers are cordially invited to visit our exhibition and enjoy the paintings on display.
